Recently pur. home with a 1993 Trane Weathertron heat pump Model# WCC036F100BB, Ser#H40160621. This is a unit that was not used previously in this home at least as it is a new home built recently but not lived in. We have no product information and it does not heat the home. We do not know if it is the heat pump or the size of the home. The main are with vaulted ceilings is approx. 50x40 or so. The bedroms do not heat at all except for the master, closest to the heat pump. There is a crawl space that the duct work runs through. The thermostat has the settings of heat, cool, EMHT and OFF. Also a fan setting separate from those. We set the heat to mid 70's and light comes on thermostat, then pump runs continuously it seems but does not heat past mid 60's unless weather warms up. The unit is outside and coils (appearance like a radiator in a car) are not enclosed. At times I feel warm heat in ducts, other times room air and defintely at times cool air without changing the thermostat. We did use it as an air conditioner for a couple of weeks and it did cool.. We have no knowledge of the installation and have never used a heat pump previously. Is there any info out there that I might be able to order. We have no heat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it is in the 30's at night and 40's in the day. Thank you

Hi Paul, Your problem may not be with the heat pump but with the Aux heating. Switch the thermostat to emergency heat and verify the furnace is working.

Yes I assumed it was a split system so I did some research and according to the information I just downloaded from Trane your unit is a packaged heat pump. In heating the heat pump portion will produce between 15,300 and 29,000 Btu’s worth of heat depending on the out door conditions. As well it has an electric heater in it ( aux heat ) there are actually 5 different heating configurations available for that model that will give you the additional heat required.

I have 40 amp breakers that supposedly go to heater packs. , how will I determine if they are working? Are the heater packs the aux heat? This house was built by an idiot that has lost his license to build and we are finishing it off piece by piece. Where would I look for aux heatsources to determine if I have them? Is the furnace you mentioned a regular furnace ? Are the aux.s within the system? I do not have a clue what I am looking for. Thank you for your patiece and help.

The heater part number will be. BAYHTRNXXX
Seeing as though it’s 40 amps I can assume it’s a 15 to 18 Kw heater.
To test it you will need a meter but remember this is high voltage. As mentioned befor when you put the thermostat to emergency heat you should be operating the Aux heaters yes theses are the Axu heat.
