Our home is 5 years old and has a Trane YCC036FIMOBF package gas/electric unit. Yesterday morning we woke up to no heat. I know a little about furnaces and air conditioning and can usually solve my own problems. However, I've never owned a package unit before. There seems to be no support available from Trane in the form of schematics, parts diagrams, etc.
The exhaust blower for the gas burner was running. I took two side covers off and the LED on the PCB indicated that the thermostat was calling for heat.
Two wires on the gas valve are connected to a device mounted on the inside vertical panel that I'm assuming is either an ignitor or a heat sensor. Anyhow i removed the 2 screws and shook the device without removing it.
When I turned the power back on, the burner lit & has been working properly since then. I guess I got lucky, but I'd like to have some understanding and documentation of this unit. Also, I'd appreciate advice as to what I should do to assure this unit won't fail to heat again.

I have identical symptom with YCC024 model just over 10 years old. It takes several taps with a mallet while cycling the heat on/off to get the burner to light. I usually smell gas just prior to the burner lighting. I am tapping on the external covers in the area of the burner and relays. Problem only happens if thermostat has not called for heat in 36-48 hours.
I need to look at my PCB and the wires going to the gas valve. Would sure appreciate knowing resolution of your problem!
