Hello Everyone-

I have a YORK ~2ton outside A/C and a 1970's era GE furnace and after replacing the old mercury thermostat with a digital, I can no longer get the fan or A/C to power on from the thermostat (heat works fine). I should mention that I stupidly didn't remove the A/C unit from the power supply before I replaced the thermostat.

As far as I can tell, it is a 5-wire system w/ 3 wires to the A/C (yellow, orange, green) and 3 wires (red, white and the green wire passes thru) wired to the furnace.

I am getting full 24 V at the thermostat from wires that should be hot.

I already had an HVAC guy come out and he could not fix the problem after two hours of troubleshooting and even taking the thermostat out of the equation by putting jumpers across the terminals.

How do I fix this thing before it gets even hotter?

Thanks in advance,
Dan

Wire it like this.

Rh= Heating power
Rc= Cooling power
Y= compressor
G= fan
W= heat

Xenos.

The best way to escape a problem is to solve it.
