I have a Baystat 239 thermostat, and changing to a Honeywell T8611M 2066 Chronotherm IV heat pump thermostat.
The Baystat 239 has the following color wires or positions.
Blue wire- think is common
X2 - think is emergency heat
Orange-
Green-
yellow-
Tan/Brown-
Red-
White-
The Honeywell T8611 has these connections:
X1-
C-
X2-
OT-outdoor temp sensor
OT-same
L-
R-
W3-
E-
Y2-
Y1-
O/B-
G-
I have a Trane heat pump (two heat/ one cooling)
Can you tell me what to hook to what so I dont ruin the new thermostat. I have learned a lot from things you have told others but have not found the exact same match of thermostats as my two and am afraid to try without good advice.
Thanks for your help.

It’s the connections not the colors.

R= Power
B= Common C or X on Honeywell
G= Fan
W= Aux Heat, W2 on Honeywell
T= Outdoor anticipator not required on the Honeywell
X2= Emg heat E on Honeywell
Y= compressor heat / cool. Jump W1 to Y1 for this on the Honeywell.

Xenos.

The best way to escape a problem is to solve it.

A few more questions please.
I still don't know what to do with the O(orange) connection from the baystat 239 thermostat. Is it used on the Honeywell T8611M2066 ?
Also, you mentioned that the Y connection (compressor heat/cool) would jump W1 and Y1. I have no W1 on the T8611. Just a W3.
You told me to hook the W on the baystat 239 to W2 on the honeywell, but there is no W2.
Im not sure what to do on these connections.
My guess was to connect the W to the W3 and jump it to Y1. Is that wrong?
I am ok with all other connections but these are still a concern. I would appreciate your help again. Thanks for your quick response on my first questions.

IF there is no W1 it's just Y then and O is O/B.

3rd time: and hopefully last questions.
I am assuming that If since I am connecting my W from the Baystat 239 to W3 on the Honeywell T8611M2066 Chronotherm IV, and Y to Y1, that I have just a single stage compressor system when I configure the installer setup? The heat pump is a Trane TWN024-060C XE-1100.
Last check.
I am going with these connections:
(1st is Baystat 239> 2nd is Honeywell T8611)
B > C
* X2 - no connection
* OT - no connection
* OT - no connection
* L - no connection
R > R
W > W3
X2 > E
* Y2 - no connection
Y > Y1
O > O/B
G > G
T > not used
Please let me know if I am correct and on the single or two stage or two speed compresson question. Then I will make the changeover.
Thank you again.
You have been a tremendous help.

Yes it's a 2 stage system however the compressor is single.
