I have a Goodman Heatpump that has 3 wires for the fan motor.
Black, Brown and Purple.

Black goes directly to the contactor (hot)
Brown to Capacitor
Purple to a circuit board.

The new motor has 4 wires
brown, brown/white, black, white.

It came with a new capacitor with only 2 conections on top.

can this be wired in or am I looking at getting a different motor?

( 1/4 hp 1075 rpm 1.7 amp )
Thanks in advance

Yes it's good, the 2 browns go to the new capacitor only, nothing else is to be on the cap. And connect the other 2 to your power.

Xenos.

The best way to escape a problem is to solve it.

That's what I was thinking. I have been looking with no luck to find an oem replacement for the ao smith motor. I ended up installing an emerson (1860) 4 wire just as I would hook up any 230v elect motor and so far so good.

Thanks for the help!
