I'm cooling a 2 story home. a/c works fine, downstairs. Is there anything I can do myself to get some of this cool air to the second floor? Vents are wide open and blowing strong, but just one return in hallway. Any improvment would be nice. Thanks!!

Move the returns to the ceiling of the second floor.

you need another unit for the upstairs, heat rises and if you have the thermostat downstairs cool air will settle down at the first floor while hot air will rise to the second floor, setting the t-stat at a low temperature will get it comfortable up stairs but too cold down stairs if you relocate the thermostat to the upstairs you will have the same problem, unit will run for a long period of time making cool upstairs and too cold downstairs or it will stay comfortable during the winter and cold downstairs. need to run a separate system for upstairs.

The square footage of the living space here is only about 2100sq. seems like a small house to need two units. Knowing this do you still think i should look into having another unit installed for upstairs? Could it possibly be that the unit is large eneough but mabe there is a problem with the design of the ductwork? Thanks

Is the unit located in the attic? where are the returns located?
