Why have 2 transformers; one for heating and one for cooling signals?
I have an electronic thermostat that is capable of heating and cooling control, however, it is only capable of working with one transformer systems.
Can I rewire my two transformer system so that it only uses one? (So that I can use this new thermostat I've acquired)

The reason for two transformers is to confuse technicians. Yes it can be wired for one transformer and work just fine.
