I've got a brand new Goodman 2 piece air conditioner. The outside condensor unit won't stop running, even if I turn the thermostat OFF. The air handler in the attic will stop blowing, but the outside unit still spins.

Any suggestions on what's wrong?

Is it okay to leave it running for long periods (except for the $$$)? And turn it off by the breaker, or is this a sign that something is wrong with the unit (as opposed to wiring)?

What is the model #? Is this a heat pump or an air conditioner?

It is just ab a/c unit. I think its a CLJ or CLT. I'm at work now and can check the unit tonight.

Just wondering though if I should pull the breaker and live with the heat or if I can run it for 3-4 hours stright without burning something out.

Thanks.

The first thing I would do is disconnect one of the 24 volt wires at the condensing unit. If the condenser still runs you probably have a contactor stuck in the closed position. Running the system for 4 straight hours is fine.
