I'm replacing a Weathertron Trane Model Baystat 239 thermostat on my Trane Heat Pump Model TWV024B14 with a Hunter Model 44760 Programmable Thermostat.

The terminals and wires coming from my old Weatherton thermostat are (B) Blue; (W) White; (R) Red; (T) Tan; (Y) Yellow; (G) Green; (O) Orange and (X2) Black.

The Hunter terminals are (G) Fan Relay; (C) Common; (L) System Monitor; (O) Reversing Valve Cool; (W2) Auxiliary Heat; (B) Reversing Valve Heat; (E) Emergency Heat; (R) 24V Supply; (Y1) Compressor Stage 1.

According to the instructions that came with the Hunter thermostat, here's how it should be hooked up:

R to R
Y1 to Y
W2 to W
E jumper to W2
O to O
B not used
G to G
L not used
C - B

The XT (Black) and T (Tan) wires are not used.

When I've hooked up the unit according to this layout, it took the unit almost 10 hours to cool down two small bedrooms from 80 degrees to 74 degrees and the unit ran continuously for 17 hours. I turned the Hunter thermostate to the "off" position and it the unit still kept runing.

Any advice on what I've got hooked up wrong?

Thank you very much for any help.

The wiring apears right. Disconect Y if the compressor shuts off return the thermostat and buy a Honeywell.

Xenos.

The best way to escape a problem is to solve it.
