When my central air unit runs for a long period of time there is condensation on the actual unit and on the tubes coming out of the unit. The condensation is heavy enough that it leaks on the basement floor and makes a small puddle. I am not sure how old the unit is because I just moved into the house, but I know the unit is a Luxaire. It otherwise runs fine.

What are you asking? condensation is a normal occurrence with air conditioning.

Yes, I know it's normal but not in this amount. I can't keep anything under the tubes in my basement because of the amount of condensation that is falling. It makes everything wet.

Is it the duct work condensing or the copper pipes?
Is the drain pluged. Why are the coper tubes not insulated?

Its the duct work not the copper pipe. The copper pipe is not insulated and feel warm to the touch. The drain is not clogged it seems to be working fine. I've had it checked. I had someone come out to look at the unit and they can't figure it out.

what is the return and supply air temperature? Something tells me you may have an air flow problem.

Measure the temperature of the air entering the return air grill and the air leaving the supply.
