Hello, first time poster here. I am in the process of converting from a Trane Baystat240A to a Hunter 44110. This is my second or third conversion to a programmable thermostat unit and my first question.

Here is my current wiring situation on the Hunter 44110

GRN -> G
RED -> RC & RH
YEL -> Y
WHT -> W

BLU -> TAPED
ORN -> TAPED
BRN -> TAPED
BLK -> TAPED

The only trouble that I see so far, is that it seems that:
A. When I have the thermostat set to COOL, it blows out HEAT
B. When I have the thermostat set to HEAT, it blows out COOL.

So, it seems naturally that something is reversed. However, I know very little about the operation of these systems to know what colored wire is for what purpose. I am not in the feel good state of "plug 'n play" with the colors to see what happens. Not my style when I don't know the consequences.

For a full list of my original connections on the Trane Baystat204A:

RED = R
ORN = O
GRN = G
BLK = G
BLU = B
YEL = Y
BRN = T
WHT = W (Which is jumped to X2)

If anyone could PLEASE get back to me on this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

That thermostat is not compatible. you need a multy stage heat pump thermostat.

Xenos.

The best way to escape a problem is to solve it.

The Trane Baystat 240A is a heatpump stat. I am not familiar with the Hunter but it appears to be a standard heat/cool stat. Out of curosity, why so many stat changes?

All refrigerants are safe - All refrigerant are dangerous. The difference is YOU !!!

It would seem to me if all you did was replace a t-stat, the yel and white wires may be reversed. Is this a heatpump system?

To be honest, I have no idea. But I can swap those two when I get home later and see if that fixes it.
