I've signed a contract with one contractor for a mid-eff 80% 2 stage Coleman furnace. Now for the same price, he proposes to install a Keeprite Softsound IIs 80 2 stage-furnace.
Question: Is this a good swap?...or should the quote be cheaper since Keeprite position their unit as more affordable..
Thanks for sharing your thoughts?

I don't recomend either. Whats wrong with the leaders like Lennox, Trane, Carrier ....

Accoridng to the info available on the web, brand is of a lesser importance than how the furnace is installed..Most of manufacturers purchase most of their parts from the same supplier to the exeption of the heat exchanger that might be proprietary..
In addition, a Carrier , Lennox or trane will cost me 30% more at least ...
if I am worng with these assumptions, I am happy to recevie more feedback on why should a main brand should be chosen..

Until it breaks down and your dealer is waiting for parts to be delivered. Depending on where you live this may not be an issue however in a cold climate it’s everything.

Get the coleman. Out of those two choices anyway.

Why, depending on where you live they offer no support or full acess to parts other than what the local contractor is carring in his stock. Atleast Keeprite is sold through A HVAC wholesale network.

I agree with going name brand. My boss just had to replace his off brand with a Carrier because he couldn't get a control board. This actually cost him more than just the furnace due to change in ductwork, etc.
