My force air furnace is 4 year old, and stop burn this morning. (Yes, blow motor is on). The LED flashes 4, and indicates "error: open high limit device".

Is it overheated? How to clean the error state?

Thanks in advance,

Justin

Check all air filters and be sure all supply and return registers are open and clear. Turn off the furnace for a minute and then back on to reset it. If it stops again on high limit, the high limit sensor may be bad. You'll need to measure the air temperature as it leaves the heat exchanger. Sometimes you can drill a hole in the top of the supply plenum as close as possible to the furnace and use a meat thermometer. Subtract the room temperature and see if the result is within the manufacturer's temperature rise range as written on the furnace data plate.
