I am new to this forum, and am trying to wrap my brain around how the heat pump works. What I am experincing are the following:
1) Fan seems to run all the time, with room temp air.. not warm 2) Sometimes, it does get warm, but doesn't last very long. 3) Electric bill seems to be VERY high for my small Sq Footage.
Does this sound normal for a heat pump while the outside temps are in the 20's and 30's?
Can someone explain how these things work?
And what is 'EM HT' ?
Thanks

Whats probably happening is its too cold to get any real heat out of the heat pump so it runs all day. The unit will run until the temperature drops another degree in which the aux heat comes on and warms up the house. Emergence heat is used when outside temperature is to cold and or wet to gain any heat Or when its in defrost mode. At or below 30 degrees its time to put it in emergency heat mode until it is above 32. Emergence heat is normally electric heat which is much more expensive. Heat pumps are very efective above 38 degrees but when pushing 30 its really dies out alot.(Much has to do with sizing).

Thank you so much for that explanation... I've been searching all day for validation to just that. Thanks again, and I think my questions have been laid to rest.
Thanks again. :)
