I have an old york furnace model #ug200b3on-31b,thus is my parents house, anyway my dad replaced an old honeywell T87 WITH SOME ace hardware bimetal T,now when in heat and set in auto the burners will stay on then go off for 2 min,the fan will never shut down and then the burners will relite again, I now a little, (very) and was trying to check the fan limit switch, limit checks closed, the T would be set at 55 the house is at around 70 and the heat anticipator is at .6, so, and the burners keep relighting, you got me so I thought i would ask before i call a technician out to see if it were someting i could do or should we start looking for a new furnace?

Thank you for your help.

I'd call a technician to check it out before I bought a new furnace unless you are prepared to buy a new one...sometimes heat anticipator settings are stamped on the gas valve and should match accordingly at the stat. Another suggestion might be to buy a digital t-stat that doesn't require heat anticipator settings and if it doesn't work, you can always use it on your next furnace.....NOTE!!...don't forget to turn off your breaker to your furnace before replacing the stat.
