I have a 12 year Amana 80 FHA Gas heater GUI090X50A with a White Rogers Controller: Model 50A50-206. Heater tries to go on but electronic ignition is not becoming hot. Do I need a new white Rogers Controller or could it be something else? The controller seems to be functioning fine other than the ignition becoming hot?

Eric

Is there a light on the board? If so, does it come on? If you have a multimeter and are familiar with measuring AC voltages, you can see if the hot surface ignitor (HSI) is being powered. Turn off the furnace. Trace the HSI wires to where they connect to the WR control board. Mark them and disconnect them. Now turn on the power and while you are at the furnace have someone call for heat at the thermostat. Now CAREFULLY measure the voltage at those two connection points on the WR board. You should get 120 volts AC. If you do, turn off the power and go buy a new HSI.
