Hello, I just had the same problem on a service call today. The problem is the wire connection on top of the gas valve. Try and move the wire during a call for heat. You will see that if you hold it to one side it will light up.

The smart valve wasn't so smart after all. I have wedged a match cover at that connect to get someone thru the night. Also, they are not water friendly at all. Dumb place to put an ignition control in my opinion.
Thermostat (thur me-stat') The 1st thing a HomeOwner suspects is wrong which is usually wrong thinking on their part. If in doubt jump it out.
