The compressor finally went bad,can a new 13 seer 2.5 ton condenser be attached to the existing RFC line ?

no, the rfc line was used as metering device , if the outdoor unit and coil are so old that you are using rfc line , then both outdoor unit and evaporator should be replaced , the new evaporator coil will have the metering device installed , so you will need to replace at least the liquid line and possibly the suction line , hope this helps

Don't do it. The lineset needs replaced.
