The temperature reading on my Honeywell Chronotherm III T8611R1000 doesn't change so the heat pump runs all the time because the reading never reaches the setting. The heat pump is cooling the house but the reading stays at 79 deg. I have thermometer next to the thermostat and it drops down to 72 to 73 but the reading on the Honeywell Chronotherm III T8611R1000 doesn't move. I thought it was the thermostat so I replaced it with a new Honeywell Chronotherm III T8611R1000 and it doesn't change either. Anyone know what's up?

Is the wall that the thermostat installed on warm ? Or is the hole in the wall behind the thermostat getting a warm draft thru it ?

No, the wall is an interior wall between a bedroom and hallway. The thermostat has been on that wall for 14 years.
