I have a question of just what this is and how it would be implemented if at all in a programable thermostat. I am looking to replace my current mecury thermo with a Honeywell RTH8500. I have single stage gas heat and AC system..

On the old mercury tstats the heat anticipator generated a small amount of heat to fool the stat into cutting out a bit ahead of time so the residual heat in the heat exchanger which blows out at the end of the htg cycle would not cause the stat to over shoot the set temp. Ie it cuts out at 69, fan blows left over heat out until 70 which stat is set at. The electronic stats are accurate to within 1 deg F and don't have this problem, they are set for cycles/hr and the better ones are adjustable for that. The 8500 has that ability, good choice.

Haven't had any sales of the blue WR touch screens. The green Honeywell Vision Pro's are popular. Put one in the bosses house and he likes it. One of our techs, Houston 204 recommends them also. I would recommend it, has the most features/adjustability.

Hi, And very easy to program too! I just swapped out a Noma brand junk 'stat with Honeywell one in my friend's house. My house and cabin have Honeywell ones(Vision Pro).
