Old house with a new (less than 2 years old) hydronic, base board heat. 4 zones, Lux (511 serise)programable thermostats. One zone is running hot 72 deg (started a couple of days ago) when the thermostat is set @ 62. I switched thermostats (though kept the same baseplate) and still no change, so I don't think its a thermostat. Any ideas? Any and all info much appreciated.

Are you using zone vales or circulator pumps with flo control valves on it. You may have a zone valve stuck. When you had the T-stat off did you check to see if you may have a draft where the wires come thru the wall, you may need to seal that up.

djgilbert - Thanks for the quick reply - circulator pumps for each zone. I unhooked the thermostat to see if the room would cool. About an hour later, I went down to the cellar and felt the pipe that services that zone, and it was cold. While I was standing there, a different zone went on, and a few minutes later after that the zone in question's pipe was hot. I put a screwdriver to the ear on the pump of the problem zone and it wasn't turning, though the other clearly was. Does this indicate a stuck valve as you mentioned? Is there an easy fix or should I call in a pro? As always, I'm very much appreciate any information. Thanks in advance.

also - no draft behind thermostat - it's mounted to a wall with the wire run up closet door trim...

You should see some type of check valve in each zone. If a zone is getting hot and it's ciculator is not running, that suggests to me that a check valve is either stuck open or that zone is missing one.

did some research - TACO flo-check valves/circulator pumps for each zone. I hand turned the flo-check thumbscrew and heard a distinct "clink" (I assume valve closing), and then turned back to the initial setting. Zone heating appropriatly now. What causes the valve to stick open??

Anything with moving part can become stuck. If that thumbscrew was not screwed in all the way, that would leave the valve open.
