I'm having a problem with a Luxaire 14 Seer heat pump (Same as York). The problem is a loud knocking noise coming the coil section of the air handler. The noise occurs only in the heat mode. Note that the unit is completely shut off when it happens. The colder the outdoor tempature the louder and more frequent the knocking noise gets.

Anyone have any ideas? Your respnse is greatly appreciated.

I've had (3) service companies look at this problem and they all throw there hands up and scratch there heads.
