My new furnace blows colder air than the older unit. It seems that the air is colder, but that the furnace is on more often. Is this normal? I was expecting a big change in efficiency with this new unit, but when I compare last year's gas-usage to this year's, the levels are just about identical. Either the efficiency of this new unit is no better than the 30-year-old unit, or this year is much colder and the new unit is performing well. Can anyone tell me if the "not as hot air, but more of it" method is normal. Is that what furnaces do these day?
Thanks!

Get busy fixin' it...

The air coming out of your vents should be 20 or 30'f warmer than the air in the home. If your used to an older furnace where it would have been coming out warmer this can seem like cold air. Like the previous tech said though don't compare operating costs compare actual fuel consumption as utilities keep jacking up and dropping rates so its hard to compare on price.

Hi,
Is the new furnace maintaining the temp. you set on the 'stat?
Comparing running cost is based on the gas consumption.
