Good evening,

It's a cold winter up here in Iowa and we just moved into a new townhouse. We just received our first gas/ electric bill and we're a bit shocked by the heating costs. We have an old White Rodgers 1F56-444 (LR27935) thermostat and I'm trying to place a RTH7500 in its place. I've used the RTH7500 before and been very happy with it but I cant seem to get it to ignite the furnace in our current system.

Here's the setup, Gas furnace high efficiency with central air.

The old thermostat is setup like this:

G - Green Wire
RH - Red Wire
RH - Jumped to RC
Y - Yellow Wire
W - White Wire

When I match up those wires in the RTH7500 (not sure about jumping RH to RC in the RTH7500) the furnace will not ignite. I've since replaced the WR to verify the furnace will ignite and it does.

Where should these wires go on the RTH7500 also, I should be using option 1 for menu 170 right?

Thanks,
Dave

Did you unplug the furnace before you changed the stat? If not you either shorted out the transformer or blew the low voltage fuse.

G = G
W = W
Y = Y
Rh & RC = Rh & Rc (use jumper)

170 = 1

Thats how I set it up but the burners would not ignite!!!

Also, I did shut the breaker off before I put the RTH7500 on. I don't think the fuse is blown because I currently have the old thermostat on there and the burners ignited right up.

Houston204, I've only got 1 red wire coming up from the furnace, does it matter whether that goes into R or RC? I've tried it in R with the jumper to RC and In R without the Jumper to RC.

Thanks,
Dave

You have a bad stat. Return it and get another Honeywell RTH7500.
