I have been having trouble with my 10 year old Carrier 58MCA.
It will ignite inconsistantly.
I have watched it cycle through and then it would lockout.
I have seen the igniter glow to an orange color about 10s seconds later I hear a click 3-4. This cycle happens about 3-4 times before the furnace would shut down.
Sometimes after turning the side switch off then on it would start.
But lately i have been turning the side switch on 6-7 times before the furnace would ignite.
Any suggestions on what to check or replace ?

Check your condensate trap. These have a tendency to clog up after a period of time. And the pressure sw. will open, causing intermittent ignition. Check all your hoses and drain lines. Should be flashing a code 31 if tripping press. sw.Clean flame rod, and make sure no air is getting in undernieth igniter. Check vent differencial. Should be approx. 2.5 on MAGNAHELIC.
