Justed serviced a old Carrier oil furnace Model 58hy106 , the nozzle was gummed up so I changed it and installed a fuel oil line filter on the inlet side line of the oil pump (2 lines buried tank). It ran dry before I realized that I forgot to fill the filter container on the filter with fuel. I keep getting foamy oil from the bleed off vent on the pump. Its like its cavitating the fuel. This furnace was going out on miss fire before I service it. This is the first time I installed fuel filter on duel line pump and was wondering if the air bleed process was different. or do I have a bad pump on this 30 yr old monster.

I would check fuel level in tank first,it sounds like your sucking in air,if level is good check and tighten all connections, that thing might be a monster but 30 years running I wish they still made them like that!LOLI have 1 from 1960 in a liquor store I take care of and runs like a champ try that with the newer ones!

you dont have to bleed a two line oil burner ststem,or fill the filter resevoir.but you do have to BE SURE that you turn on both shut offs before you re-start the pump.if you dont do this you will blow the pump in about a minute.how is the flow when bleeding?erratic flow could be a bad pump or low oil supply or air getting in a loose connection.
