I have an old gas furnace hot water system with a vent hood on top of the furnace connecting into the chimney flu. There is a an oily substance starting to drip from the connection of the vent hood and the duct that goes to the flu. It is dripping onto the top of the furnace casing and is about a teaspoons worth in just the last couple of days. Is this chimney or furnace condensation mixing with combustion residues?
