First off I think I accidentally put out the pilot. Not sure how to restart it.

Secondly, this morning the house was cold. When setting the Noma thermostat, you can hear the thermostat click and the furnace start. At this point watching the furnace I would see the 3 flames light, I think there are three. This was before the pilot stopped coming on. The flames would run for about 5 to 10 seconds and then go off. At no point during this time did the fan come on to exhaust the heated air through the ducts. If I turn the FAN to on at the thermostat the fans engage as normal.

So three questions...

Why are the fans not engaging in AUTO mode?

Why were the flames going out?

How do I get the pilot lit again?

Thanks,

Max

Brand,Model and serial number of your furnace please!

It sounds like either a pressure switch issue or flame sensor issue. But we need the info off of your furnace.

If it ain't broke don't fix it!

It is a Concord Model 90 Plus High Efficiency Gas Furnace.

I do not have the serial number at work with me,

There was plenty of flame this morning before I turned off the gas supply. Now when I turned the gas back on, no flame.

Sounds like the flame sensor to me. If the furnace lights, then goes off after only a few seconds it is the flame sensor. If the furnace will not light at all, it is the ignitor or the control module.

Before the gas was shut off....

The igniter would light
The gas would light
The furnace would come on

After turning off the gas vavle off and turning it on again...

The igniter lights
No flame from the gas

Just like there is no gas there at all.

Reset the furnace and try it again. Do not mean to be rude, but make sure the gas shutoff is all the way open.

No problem I appreciate all the help I can get. I have been calling around for service rates and it is about $85 just to have a tech show up! I don't mind paying it but if it is something I am overlooking, it would be a waste of money. When I left for work this morning I shut the electrical off as well as closed the gas line. I didn't want to take a chance of gas buildup and have the blower run all day without heat. Perhaps leaving it unpowered for so long will cause it to reset.

Where the gas line connects to the regulator valve (I think that's what it is) there is a switch for turning the gas on or off. When placed in the on position you can hear a click from inside the valve so I assume it is working okay.

Here is a link to the furnace I have:

One other note...when I shut the gas supply off the first time this morning, the furnace had fired at that time and was running but no hot air was coming from the vents. Is there a gas sensor that may have been tripped by doing this?

Does the inducer fan come on at initial call for heat?

The inducer is the black plastic fan. It should come on first,
then the ignitor, then gas valve, then flame, then indoor blower.

Okay, got home from work. Applied power back to the furnace. House was showing 16.5 degrees, brrr.

Turned thermostat up to 21. The inducer motor has come on and is staying on. Every few minutes I hear a few clicks and then the pilot lights and then 3 jets of flame appear. It is only staying lit for about 15 or 20 seconds and then goes out. The inducer motor is staying on the whole time. This cycle has repeated itself over and over again.

Once the indoor blower came on as I could feel air blowing from the vent but the flame wasn't on at the time. The blower since shut off and has not come back on.

Sounds like a flame sensor. It is usually at the far end of the burner assembly. Looks like a needle. Take it out and clean it with off with a brillo pad or equivilent. It is ususlly held in by one screw.

Removed it and cleaned it..now I wait.

The thing would ignite, just not stay lit. Could that be the flame sensor?

Turns out the fellow who installed the furnace stilled lived in the area. He narrowed it down to the pressure switch open. Condensation had formed in one of the air lines between the pressure switch and the inducer motor. Drained the line and the furnace is purring again. Thanks for all the help.
