I am being sent out to verify a bad blower motor on a Thermopride CHX1-75N natural gas furnace, 4 years old. I obtained an ECM troubleshooting guide from Thermopride. What is interesting to me, is that going through the troublshooting chart, they never mention the ECM control. It always ends "Replace motor" or "Replace IFC". Are they assuming the ECM control never fails? Never once does the troubleshooting guide say "Replace ECM control". Are they grouping the ECM control AND the motor together? HELP!

The CHX1-75N is set up odd. Instead of butting the ECM control against the blower motor itself, it's mounted in the FRONT of the furnace next to the IFC. Weird.

If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Guess what? It WAS the ECM control! NOT the motoror IFC. Thermopride needs to revise their troubleshooting guide.

If it ain't broke don't fix it!

In my experience unless there has been a serious short through the furnace of some kind, 99% of the time its the control not the motor unfortunately too few take the time to go through the proper steps to ensure the motor is the problem before changing the whole thing/
