Four year old Amana HeatPump problem.Runs fine in cool cycle however in heat mode the unit has high pressures and compressor goes off on internal overload.The pressures start rising about 10- 15 minutes into cycle.Has clean evaporator ,air filter&blower motor ok .Outdoor expansion valve has been replaced as well as bi-flow filter drier(old one was pretty restricted).Refrigerant charge was weighed in.It was about 60 deg outside yesterday head pressure was 300psig suction 85psig.The indoor temperature 68 deg.Thinking there may be a restriction in outdoor coil. Also a question for you heatpump fellas, where is the best location for measuring superheat and subcooling in heat mode.All opinions welcome.

Is that R22? 300 sounds wicked high for an indoor temp of 68. It would be helpful if you also provide superheat and subcooling readings as this will tell us what's really going on. As for the best locations, they say it's best to take LL temp close to TXV. Best to check SL temp at evap outlet. Trust me nobody does this unless they have to. Its much easier to check at outdoor unit cuz you're already there.
In heat mode you will have to open unit and take SL temp where SL goes into reversing valve.

Yeh that is an r-22 system and yes that is a wicked high head.Where is the best place to check subcooilng in heat mode.

check LL temp close to txv for best reading, really not important. Taking temps at service valves for ac is plenty good enough. You don't have a restriction cuz if you did your suction would be low, superheat high. So what's up with those temps?
