We use a York heat pump model E1CS042A06A (probably about 12 years old) with a Honeywell VisionPro 8000 thermostat and a GE gas furnace. The heat pump has heated well all winter. But now that the weather has turned warm, it will not cool. It runs, but we get hot air out of our registers when it runs. We have tried setting the thermostat on both Auto and on Cool. The heat pump runs, but only hot air is produced. I am told that this may be a stuck 3-way (reversing) valve. Can this be the problem? Any way to test for this without instruments? (I am not an a/c mechanic - just moderately handy) Any way to un-stick it without replacing it? Someone else suggested that the problem is a bad defrost control circuit board. Could this be my problem? Thanks for your help.

1. Did you configure option 170 to 7 and 190 to 0?
2. Try changing your option 190 setting.
3. Verify that your reversing valve wire is properly connected to the O/B terminal. The stat wire can break when the O/B terminal is overtightened.
4. Verify that you are getting 24 volts at O and C outside.
5. Inspect for damage at the low voltage wire to your outdoor unit.
