I am a plumber and a big do-it-yourselfer; I plan on installing an ac unit soon but i was going to do all the hard work for the tech i hire. i will be running the gas and 240 for the unit (attic unit) and i wated to know the types of tubing or piping i could use for the refrigerant line. is the soft tubing ppl use the same as type k? can i use galvanized piping for refrigerant? I know how to braze, and i can get tupe k easily. i'm just trying to avoid spending $300 in copper alone. cpvc?

just get the lineset and be done with it. they need to be kept clean and are dry charged. do not use open copper pipe.

Soft copper is type L. Refrigerant lines cannot be galvanized pipes or cpvc.
