I want to move my return (14x30)from the floor to my wall (20x20). How do I seal around the rigid duct through the floor?? Is there any literature on this whole process??

air and bug tight are all you need it to be. Depending on how much space we are talking about here.... more than 2 inches use wood, less than 2 inches use expanding foam.
make sure the total open inside area stays open, no kinks, or reduce to small and back to large. the return is only as good as its smallest cross section.
