I was told yesterday that I had a cracked heat exchanger on my 1994 Clare Furnace. The tech shut it off without telling me. BAD BOY! Clare seems to be out of business. Does anyone know of after market parts in Toronto, Canada? Or what is my best action. New furnace is LAST step.

The tech shut off your furnace so you won't die from CO poisoning. Your only option is to skip to last step and replace the furnace.

My "rage" from yesterday has worn off. Got another tech for 2nd opinion. Lo and Behold...there is NO CRACKED HEAT EXCHANGER. Direct Energy Essential Services in Toronto have a BAD tech. Got 3 estimates for LAST step already...but one guy did suggest to get a second opinion...he deserves a beer store gift card!

Wow that's brutal. Some techs are lazy or stupid and condemn furnaces cuz they don't want to repair them or can't figure out what's wrong. What a disservice to the customer.

There are a lot of those guys that condemn furnaces and usually the sales man is close behind him. I live in Georgetown just west of you and have seen a lot of condemned furnaces with nothing wrong. I'm glad you found an honest tech because we are not all bad.
