I have a Lennox G26 furnace. My batroom exhaust fan has a white-rodgers Dual purpose pressure switch attached to activate the funace blower (for outside air intake) when the batroom exhaust fan is switched on. The Low Voltage wires are connected to the R and G terminals of the furnace to activate the blower when the circuit is closed by the pressure switch. It works as adverised. I also have an AC unit attached to the furnace, connected to the low voltage C and Y terminals. It is winter time here, the AC power from the breaker panel and outside switch is turned off. However, when the bath exhaust fan is activated, the funace blower cuts in, (good so far !) I get what seems to be a transformer HUMM in the AC unit. Any advice?

This was my original posting. To add, the stat that I have contains batteries and a 4 wire hookup. There is a jumper between the RH and RC connections. The manual for the thermostat says that if batteries are used no common wire from the thermostat to the funace is required. Is the above problem that i am having with my AC a function of dead batteries? What do the batteries do?

The batteries actually make the thermostat work. If you wire in a common wire, the batteries would act as a backup to save the program if you lose power for any length of time.

The hum you are hearing is usualy made by the contactor. Most of the time the only way to get rid of the hum is to replace it.

Problem is the lennox unit is only good for using as a fart fan............. every time someone talks about fart fans and Lennox Ace seems to chime in....LOL might have something to do with ace being full of shit...LOL

You have a very unique situation, its highly UNcommon to activate a fart fan in a bath room off of a furnace control board..........I suggest you call your installing contractor with any and all questions about this unique situation.
