I purchased a hunter 44260 to replace my old white-rodgers thermostat. I can't figure out how to label and connect the wires. My wires are as follows: G - Green Y - Yellow O - Orange W2- White E- Brown XI - Blue R - Red
I can figure out the red and green wires using the conversion chart included in the instructions but other than that i'm lost. can you help

X1 = C
You must configure your new stat for heatpump operation before it will energize the O terminal with demand for cooling.
Cooling demand at Y with no power to O is stage 1 heat. The factory setting will produce this with heatpumps in cooling demand unless you configure your stat properly.
After configuring option 170 to 7 (multistage heatpump) and setting 190 to 0 (O/B terminal is O) your system should operate correctly.

the model number is RTH 7500. When I hooked it up to C the heat came on. Not good here in Florida. Getting hotter.

option 170 = 7 option 190 = 0
You will only get heat with cooling demand unless you configure your new stat for heatpump operation.
Post the number for your old stat. The White Rodgers. I'm still 99% sure X1 = C (common).

I purchased the Honeywell suggested but there is no indication as to where to connect the X1 wire, can you help? All of the other wires were clearly labled and connected as below with my wire lables listed first: G - G Y - Y O - O/B R - R W2 - AUX E - E X1 - ??

If you post the model number for your old stat, I will gladly look it up.
99% sure X1 = C (common)
