We have a 16 year old Trane Weathertron Heat Pump, American Standard Air Handler, and Honeywell PROTH4000 thermostat.

When heating, the fan turned off accordingly in auto mode.

We started the a/c up this week, and now the fan will not turn off in auto mode or even when the thermostat is set to system off. We are unplugging the unit to turn the fan off.

We recently had the thermostat installed professionally (less than 60 days ago) and had the unit serviced less than a month ago.

Thanking you in advance.

I am having the same problem at a job. I even removed the thermostat completly and the fan still runs. I had to on plug the fan in the attic. Please let me know what you find.

Thanks

The low voltage fuse in your air handler probably needs replacement. It probably looks like this one...

The B terminal on your new stat should not be in use with a Trane or American Standard system. (It is used with Rheem, Ruud, & Weatherking). Blue wires to C (common).

Another possibility is your control wire to the outdoor unit. If Orange is shorted to common or the refrigerant piping it will pop a fuse.

"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.
