when i turn on the therm. outside unit comes on for about 10 seconds and goes off. i replaced the contact relay and cap still does the same thing any help would be app.

Does the fan(outside)continue to run when compressor shuts off? If not you most likely have a low pressure switch opening due to a low charge/leak. You can keep your old contactor for a spare. You should call a pro.
