I push in the contacts on the contactor. If I hold them in, everything seems to run great. But the minute I let go of them, they pop out and everything shuts off. Any ideas? Oh I have a Carrier Weathermaker 8000.. Its approximately 13-14 years old (Just entering its prime!) I replaced the fan about 3 years ago and replaced the capacitator today thinking that might be it.

What more information could you use? I will be happy to supply it! So if I have 24 volts entering the condensor, then I can assume that I need Freon? And do you have any diagrams of the pressure switches? I am handy, but a novice at AC repair..

Post your model number. 38TRA048-321 ? The 3rd and 4th digits of your serial number indicate the year.
My Example shows a 5 minute time delay relay. If your unit is equipt with a timer it could also be the cause.
Is this a heat pump? 38YRA
Follow the voltage, where does it stop? If you have 24 volts to your contactor but it does not pull in, replace youre contactor.

If you have 24 volts between Y (blue or yellow) and C (brown), but do not have 24 volts between T1 (blue or yellow) and C, it is your pressure switch.
