I have an addition on the back on my house. 15x15. The vent is at the beginning of the room and there is no air return. The room stayed cold in the winter so we just had an Induct booster fan installed to increase the air flow. My brother-in-law is an electrician and not and HVAC guy. He hooked the nuetral up to the digital thermostat box. As soon as the temp hits the trigger temp the booster fan kicks on. We are not running the furnace or A/C at the moment due to the beautiful weather. The booster fan never shuts off now. Where should the neutral be hooked up to?
Second questions is whoever installed the HVAC used the flex pipe in the attic. This flex pipe really heats up. As of now the booster fan is pumping out hot air (hotter than the rest of the house). I assume that it is heating up in the short time it is in the insulated flex pipe. Should I add insulation around the flex pipe or will that fix the problem? The problem I noticed is everytime the booster fan would kick on it would fill the room with cold air and then hot air. Seems like its working twice as hard because of the flex ducting. As I said now it continually shoots out hot air.
Any advice would be great appreciated. I called the guys that installed the unit 4 years ago but they want $100 and hour just to come look at it to give me adice on how to fix their handy work.
