I see the ingighter start glowing but the furnace will not ignite. If I tap the gas valve assymbly with small mallet while its cycling it will ignite. Any suggestions.

DON'T hit the gas valve. Have a technician check the furnace ASAP!
Better to be safe now, than sorry later!
