Hi. I have a Bryant resi HVAC system from about 1987. FWIW, model #37baw048095. When a call for heat comes from the Honeywell thermostat, the furnace does nothing at all. If the same thermostat makes a call for cool, the compressor outside runs, the furnace blower motor runs, everything is as it should be.
I was thinking transformer but since the A/C runs as it should, I started to rule it out. Is my main controller board just simply done? On and off for a year now, the furnace would simply not work from time to time when a call for heat was made, yet if a call for cool were to be made, same thing, it'd work great in cooling mode. This time however, it just appears to be done heating.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've connected a multimeter in just about every place I felt safe doing so and unlike other things I've been able to fix, this one eludes me and I'd really like not to just throw parts at it until it starts working. :)
Thanks in advance!

At the t-stat jump the R and W terminals together if the furnace come on get a new stat. If not go to the furnace control board and jump the R and W terminals if it comes on you have a wiring concern. If it does nothing you may have a control board going bad.

Thanks for the tip and the beyond fast reply!
Jumped both, no dice. So I did look on the web for a new controller board. Found one at expertappliance.com Know any place online I can get a genuine OEM replacement for less than $298? Does $298 sound reasonable?!
I've been buying parts on and off the past few years and lately (within the last year) HVAC parts have really gotten pricey. Not that I'm complaining, I've gotten about all I should expect out of this unit. I also need a new blower motor too at some point. Maybe it's also time to start to think about dusting the 'ol wallet off and really thinking hard about total replacement. I mean after blower motor and controller board, from what I can tell, I'm pushin' around $700, and I still have a 20+ year HVAC system. :)

Did you jump the terminals at the furnace?
If so when you did did you push in the safety switch that the front panels norminally close?
I just want to make sure that the furnace had power when you jumped the terminals so that you don't waste money.

Thanks for checking. I did make sure the safety switch was pushed in. I taped it closed while I jumped. :)
Thanks for the links. I can see clearly that there are far less expensive folks out there. Maybe I can get another season or two out of this old beast. :)
Thanks again for all you help and suggestions!
