I have a RHEEM model# RAKA-030JAZ The outside fan motor stopped working . I was able to put a box fan on the unit to cool the condenser and still have ac in the house. My question is how much voltage should be going to the fan and . I checked the wires coming out from the capacitor that go to the fan and was getting around 220 from the orange and the brown I used the black as the common is this right ?

If your fan spins freely when power is removed, you may only need a new capacitor. Match voltage and microfarad rating.
Capacitors will hold a charge for a few minutes after removing power.

A 5 microfarad 370 volt example...

So how do I test the capacitor ? It has 3 prongs. The fan motor is a 240 volt right ?

If the top of your dual capacitor is swollen or leaking oil, replace it.

A new capacitor is Much cheaper than a tester. I recommend a Fieldpiece.

Ok The capacitor is not holding a charge . The top is not swollen or leaking. The fan spins freely. So most likely its the capacitor right ? The capacitor is a 440 v 50/60. Where can I pick up one of these capacitors ?

35.0 / 3.0

Johnstone Supply, Johnson Supply, and Grainger would have them but they are wholesalers. You might try a local appliance store. Some of our posters have bought them there.

Ebay sales HVAC parts, you might try them or some other online source.
