I have a Tempstar (ICP) Heat Pump that was installed in February, 2002. I have had many problems over the years and have had the main board replaced twice, and some sensor replaced twice. In the last few weeks, the unit starting making an awful loud noise. I describe it like a Diesel pick-up truck idling. So now, I am told the compressor is gone and needs to be replaced. The compressor is still under warranty. I have a quote from the local service provider for $1750 to install the warrantied compressor. Does that sound right? Does all of this sound right? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Seems high, you should probably get more than one estimate. I am not familiar with Linsay ON, if it is a rural area your prices will be higher.
Does it really hit 31 degrees F. below zero there?
