After charging my a/c system to data plate specs. for the ambient tempature, the sution pressure was only 10 psig different that the high side and I am wondering what would cause this. no foul odor coming from the system, deep vacuum pulled before charging. comprssor is operating.

REPLACED THE ELECTRIC FURNACE WITH A GAS ONE, HAD TO MOVE THE EVAPORATER FOR THE DOWNFLOW FURNACE.

Sounds like you got a busted valve in the compressor.

Could be a stuck reversing valve or the compressor is bypassing internally. The problem could also be something different, recommend having system checked to verify.
