In the process of purchasing a home I went to the County to check permits on the property and discovered that the High Efficiency Carrier furnace, installed in 12/2005 had been "DENIED" the "Mechanical Final." The notation on the report said, "provide 24" sheet metal sleeve 12" above 12" below ceiling or use fire collar on each vent."
Since the company installing the furnace didn't follow through and complete the job I now need to make sure they do it properly. What do I need to know about this to make sure that the job is completed in a safe manner?
The furnace was installed in the garage of a home in Gladstone, Clackamas County, Oregon. I also noticed that there is no post mounted in the floor to protect the furnace from damage by autos. Shouldn't this be required?
