I have an approx. 12 year old Lennox 12 seer heat pump unit. It has a thermal expansion valve on both the inside and outside unit. Both have been replaced before due to being clogged. I want to replace these with a simple metering device that does not fluctuate depending on the line temperature. Has anyone done this before? Would it be worthwile? I feel there is still a lot of life left in the other componets and know the price of a new metering device would not compare to replacing the unit with a new 13 seer unit. I just do not want to put another txv on it just for it to malfunction again...
