I have a Trane XR80 furnace. I recently discovered that the unit has been starting and stopping. The heat will start fine but then the unit seems to lose its flame and the unit turns off. After it turns off it tries to start up again but the heat wont fire so it will just start and stop. While this is happening the diode on the circuit controller will remain in a fast blink which is the call for heat. If you turn down the thermostat so the unit stopping trying fire and leave it for abit, it will work again when u turn the thermostat back up, but after awhile it will go back to starting and stopping. Any help would on where to start looking would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Verify that your air filter is clean. Clean your flame sensor with steel wool.

I removed my flame sensor and cleaned it. I tried to restart the furnace but it not even firing the gas. It seem to get all prepared to fire the gas (combustion motor running, Igniter is glowing) and then the gas doesn't come. If left on it seems to keep the motor running and the igniter going but just sounds like it keep restarting. Any suggestion on why the furnace is not getting gas flow would be much appreciated. Thanks for your quick responce times.

Do you hear the gas valve click? Do you hear the flow of gas?
Measure for 24 volts to your gas valve after the ignitor glows.
I'm guessing it's a bad circuit board, but this should be verified by measuring for 24 volts to the gas valve after your ignitor glows. (It might be safer to turn off the gas to your furnace before measuring).
If you need a board or a gas valve, you should probably call a pro.

I metered out the voltage at the gas valve and it is only getting 7.9ish volts when it is having the issues..( when leads are not connected to gas valve) Would that be a faulty circuit board?
Thanks again for all your help Mike

Sounds like a bad board.

It is 93 degrees F. outside at my sensor. Hard to imagine anyone running heat.
Worlds Apart.
