I saw where someone else had a thread about this same thing, but no one really answered him. I have pictures, so I hope I can get some help.

Carriere modelFB4ANF030

I took the panel off and there was some black fitler type stuff on the panel. It was super dirty so I took it off to clean it/replace it thinking that was the filter (see 4.jpg). Only then did I realize that every panel in the unit had this same black filter type padding on them (see 1.jpg)! I can't see a common filter any where in this thing. Is there supposed to be one lying over the white radiator looking thing shown in the 2.jpg? Or am I just supposed to clean those thing somehow? I see some dirt and dust collecting in between the ridges.

Thanks for any help!!!

Hey thanks alot! I found it, and man it sure is clogged and dirty! It doesn't fit well and it looks like they just crammed it in there. Anyway, I ruined the installation piece. Is there any spray foam or some other way I can replace this small part of insulation? Isn't the insulation there to stop overheating or fire hazzards? I can live a while without that little piece couldn't I?

Thanks alot!

Autozone used to sell a spray adhesive that resembles the stuff I that use from my supply houses. You might try them.

You are looking at the outlet side of your coil. If you have a filter it would be behind the small 2x20 panel 2 panels below the one you have removed.

It comes off by pulling the beige or black handles toward each other. (no tools required)

Some spray adhesive should get the insulation back on your panel.
