This is a furnace I installed in 1999. Last week customer called to say they had no heat. The LED diagnostic light blinked 3 times indicating the pressure switch was bad. I replaced that and furnace lights up but flame only stays on for about two minutes and goes out. After about a minute it will reignite and the flame stays on for a couple of minutes. It repeats this sequence. My first thought was the flame sensor was bad but did not want to start replacing parts. I would like to know if the flame sensor needs replacing or perhaps the circuit board? How do I determine which to replace.

If this is a condensate furnace (with a PVC Exhaust pipe) verify that your condensate drainline is clear.
You can clean the flame sensor with some emery cloth or steel wool. (Not sandpaper)
What does your LED display now when lockout occurs?
"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.

This is not a condensing furnace. It is an 80+. when the failure occurs it doesn't lock out. It does not give me a diagnotic blicking code; it stays on. Now the customer tells me that the furnace doesn't even try to light. I am thinkikng that i need to replace the solid state brain board.
thanks so much!
